The sold out show at The Foundry in Philadelphia’s The Fillmore on April 20th was packed wall to wall in anticipation of Léon’s show. Morgan Saint opened up the evening, performing as if the stage was ten times bigger than it was. Dancing around the room she interacted with her fans, and passionately performed some of her classic hits. Her vocals were unmatched, and her strong stage presence was evident in her use of the space she was given. Backed by her talented band, she had the whole crowd singing and dancing along with her.
If you could take the power of Adele’s voice, pair it with the best aesthetics from the 60’s/70’s/80’s, and raise it on nothing but good vibes— you would end up with Léon. Léon’s crew immediately set the ambiance of the night by furnishing the stage with lamps, plants and a rug— bringing the comfortable feeling of home to the venue. Her music leaves you with a feeling one can best describe as nostalgia. Beautifully poetic lyrics paired with a powerhouse singer, and a multi-talented band created a show worthy of being performed on the biggest stages.
The intimate setting of The Foundry allowed for Léon to talk with her fans, joking about what bars were best in Fishtown, and sharing stories of the meanings behind some of her songs. Such a positive energy drifted through the entire crowd and was carried by all the staff and crew of both the artists and the venue. Some artists don’t respond well to fans yelling to them from the crowd, but as one fan shouted, “You’re beautiful!” up to Léon, she smiled and immediately complimented them back. The energy the crowd brought could be felt throughout the whole room, with Léon even taking off her shoes saying. “I’ve kept these on the whole tour, and I think this might be the first time I take them off.”
A refreshing personality and talent, Léon was able to project her feelings to the crowd, letting each fan embrace the show as if it was their own. Labeled as “one to watch,” Léon will be selling out stadiums worldwide in no time.
