Working as an actress from the time she was seven years old, California native, Chelsea Rendon, is the main character on STARZ’s most recent drama Vida. The series premiered on May 6th, and Rendon’s character is a “woke” activist who is all about sticking it to the man. Chelsea has performed many other roles, her earliest playing Cristina in the feature film No Turning Back. Most recently she has appeared in Netflix’s original show, Bright, as well as Freeform’s The Fosters. In this interview, Chelsea discusses what some of her favorite memories from the set of Vida are, as well as what inspired her to get into acting. To find out more about Chelsea read on below!

Who/what first inspired you to get into acting?

"I feel like I came out of the womb ready for acting, but I would have to say watching Selena at the drive-in definitely solidified it."

What do you remember from your first audition?

"Honestly I don’t remember my first audition because I was only 6! My mom tells me when I was younger I thought going to an audition was a job."

You currently star as Mari on STARZ’s upcoming series “Vida” – can you tell us a little about the show and your character?

"The show is about two sisters coming home to East LA, finding out family secrets, dealing with a changing neighborhood and finding yourself.

My character Mari “La Chinche” is a young, woke activist from the neighborhood. She is a badass. She is totally against the gentrification that’s going on and hates the Hernandez sisters!"

What’s your favorite memory from working on the set?

"The food! Just kidding. My favorite memory was my very first day and just getting to set and seeing my trailer. Just knowing it was really happening is a feeling I can’t even describe."

Of the roles you have played, which would you say is your favorite and why?

"Definitely Mari because she’s such an interesting character. She’s like an onion that you have to peel back each layer, and in real life I’m so similar to her."

Is there a type of role you haven’t gotten to play yet that you would love to in the future?

"I definitely want to play a serial killer and a cop! Those are my two dream parts!"

What are some goals you hope to achieve in the future?

"I want to have my own production company and create my own content. I also want to direct and of course win an Oscar one day!"

Are there any other projects we can expect from you soon?

"A feature film called Murder in the Woods is a slasher I worked on and was an Associate Producer for. I got to work with Danny Trejo and my friends Jose Julian and Catherine Toribio!

A series, High & Mighty, which is my first comedic project ever! Super fun show! I got to work with my friends Jorge Diaz and JR Villarreal. Both of these should be out later this year."

Matty Cardarople always wanted to be an entertainer and made the move from New Hampshire to Los Angeles. He started studying acting at the Beverly Hills Playhouse and was eventually discovered by Luke and Owen Wilson who gave him his career start in movies like Drillbit Taylor and Blonde AmbitionMatty recently joined the cast of Stranger Things season two and earned a starring role in Netflix's Series Of Unfortunate Events as a part of Count Olaf's Troupe. Matty also self-released a book of his poetry entitled Space CadetIn an interview with Matty we sat down to learn more about his latest roles!

When did you first realize that you wanted to be an actor?

"I had a few sparks. When I saw Jim Carrey act in Ace Ventura he inspired me to make people laugh. I was a sad kid growing because of my parents’ divorce and I didn’t get into Little League baseball. Jim helped me forget about my worries and relax.  Years later, my first big acting gig, the director said 'Welcome to the Big Leagues, kid!' So everything came full circle for me and my dream came true."

What do you remember from your first audition?

"During my first audition I was so nervous. It was for a student film for USC. My friend Peter was auditioning there too. We had been in a class together and were good friends. I went up to Peter and showed him my hands. I was so nervous that I was shaking. Peter looks at me dumbfounded and he slaps me across the face. I was shocked.  He says, 'Snap out of it. You’re great!'

And to be honest that really helped. If I only could get Peter to do that for every audition. I’m kidding of course. I definitely have some nerves now before auditions but I’ve learned how to relax, let go, and have fun. That’s what it’s all about."

You currently star as Orlando on Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, which recently premiered its second season. What’s it like working on the set?

"Besides being really unfortunate, the set is beautiful. It’s like going back in time. I had a blast. The cast and crew are really fun to work with."

Do you have a favorite episode that you filmed of the show?

"My favorite episode to film was 203. I loved the dancing for The Secretary’s Day song. I got to use a pot as a drum and a fly swatter as a drum stick. That to me was hilarious. I also love my jumping and swaying to the music as I ate a sandwich."

You also can be seen as Keith in Stranger Things – what has that experience been like since the show has gained so much recognition?

"The fans are incredible. I’m very grateful for their response. Everywhere I go I get a fan telling me how much they love the show and an how funny my character is. That means the world to me. It’s why I started acting."

What do you love most about being an actor?

"I love bringing people laughter and joy especially in the complex world we live in today. It’s why I get up every day. It’s the best feeling to know that people are seeing my work and it’s making a difference in their lives. I love when fans reach out to me to let me know that my work helped them get through a hard day. That to me is what it’s all about. A connection of joy is the best kind of connection you can have with people."

Is there a certain type of role that you haven’t gotten to portray yet that you would love to in the future?

"Yes, I’d love to portray a lamp…an actual lamp. Haha! Just kidding.  I’d love to play a superhero or a role that inspires people to laugh and love each other more."

Are there any other projects we can expect from you soon?

"Yes. Season 3 of ASOUE and a few top secret projects. If I mentioned them the Hawkins lab will come after me."

KYAN ZIELINSKI: INTERVIEW

INTERVIEW BY CAMI LIBERTY

STYLING: SHANNON KOMSKY

GROOMING: PATRICK CHAI

Kyan Zielinski currently stars in the new Amazon series "The Dangerous Book for Boys" as Liam McKenna. In 2019, Kyan can be seen in horror film They Reach and comedy-drama Small Things. We sat down with Kyan to learn more about his recent roles!

When did you first get your start in acting?

KYAN: "Starting when I was really young, around 3 years old, I would watch a movie or television show and I would ‘record’ the dialogue in my brain. When we would watch it a second time, I was able to recite the lines right along with the actors. My parents quickly recognized my talent of memorization and love for acting, so they enrolled me into summer acting classes at about 5 years old. At age 8, I was cast in my first main stage theatre production of Oliver! at the 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle, WA. In 2016, I wanted to take a break from theatre and give screen acting a try. I was lucky enough to find my amazing manager Matt Jackson with Moving Pictures Artists. He helped me prepare for this new adventure starting my film and television career."

What do you love most about being an actor?

KYAN: "I love being able to express myself as well as become other people. When I act, there is a sense of fulfillment when I’m doing it. I love challenging myself, and learning and stretching as an actor, I just love it. It’s my favorite thing to do. I’m always eager and excited to see what is next!"

You currently star as Liam McKenna on the Amazon series “The Dangerous Book for Boys” – can you tell us a little about the show?

KYAN: "The Dangerous Book for Boys is about a middle-class family that lives in Akron, Ohio. Season One takes place shortly after they lose their patriarch, a father of three sons, Patrick. The show is mixed with drama and comedy as well as a side of fantasies that the youngest boy Wyatt experiences. While they deal with the recent loss, Patrick’s identical twin, Terry, comes back into their lives bringing some well needed laughter into the house with quirky comedy.

Liam is the oldest of three boys in the family. He is a mature kid who is smarter than his two brothers and he reminds them of this often. When dealing with the loss of their father, he soon realizes that he must become the man of the house and feels that it is extremely important to look out for his mother and be a good role model for his brothers. He doesn’t express these feelings much in the first season, but he knows down deep that he needs to step up. Liam is very put together and structured, but when his father passes, things begin to fall apart, and it is hard for Liam to deal with this since he is so organized and structured normally."

In 2019 we can expect to see you in the horror film “They Reach” – what was it like working in horror? Did you find it to be challenging?

KYAN: "They Reach was really fun to work on! My character is Wesley. He is the cool kid of the school running for class president. He has a popular girlfriend and he likes to play people just for kicks. Horror is one of those tough genres to act in, as sometimes depending on the type of horror film, it can require a lot of emotion. I hope to do more acting in this genre in the future."

We can also expect to see you in the upcoming comedy-drama “Small Things”. Can you tell us a little about this project and your role?

KYAN: "In Small Things I play Sammy, the leader of the bullies in school. I was able to do some fun things in this role as I had to take combat training from a Hollywood trainer that has worked with big actors in the industry like Jean-Claude Van Damme. That was awesome!"

Of all the roles you have portrayed, which would you say has been your favorite?

KYAN: "I would definitely have to say, Liam McKenna. I instantly connected with this character from the first time I read the Pilot. Right from the beginning, I knew this project was special and I knew how I was going to portray the character so that was really cool. Liam has a complexity about him that I just love. I would really enjoy having the opportunity to play him more in a Season Two. He has so many fun and challenging lines plus I get to learn new words like troglodyte."

Do you have any goals that you hope to achieve as an actor in the future?

KYAN: "I hope to act in at least one project of every main genre. Drama, Action-Adventure, Thriller, Family, Horror, Comedy, Animation, Sci-Fi, Mystery, Western, Crime, and more!

And for those that would like to follow me, you can find me on Instagram (@kyanzielinski), on Twitter (@KyanZielinski), and on my YouTube channel KyanZielinski Vlogs."

BRIAN GUEST: INTERVIEW

INTRO BY KAT VISTI

INTERVIEW BY CAMI LIBERTY

Brian Guest is a triple threat. He's an actor, writer, and comedian. Brian is now starring alongside Josh Duhamel, Luke James, LeToya Luckett-Walker and more in USA Network's TV series Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G. Brian has made appearances on other shows like NCSI: Los Angeles, Rush Hour, Southland, and Narcos. He also recently finished filming and Indie dark comedy called The OathWe sat down with Brian to learn more about his recent projects.

When it comes to your passions, which came first – writing, acting, or comedy?

BRIAN: "The egg came first, not the chicken. We all accept that as fact, right? I mean that chicken has to come from somewhere! Honestly, I’m not sure which came first- writing, acting, or comedy. They all started percolating around the same time for me. I do come from a gigantic extended Irish family where fighting for stage time in my grandparents living room is probably how I sharpened my early comedic chops. And they were good chops- high grade 10 year old humor. When I first started “acting” I was very attracted to dark gritty plays by Sam Shepard. And now that I’m thinking about it, my 3rd grade book report I did on a Jackie Robinson biography might be the finest thing I’ve ever written. So I truly have no idea. But if I do know something, it is that an egg comes before a chicken."

Do you find that you favor one over the others?

BRIAN: "They are all sort of intertwined like a co-dependent threeway relationship. A threeway that works! Each one needs the other. My writing needs the acting. The acting needs the comedy… and so on. Each one needs the other, and brings out the best qualities in the other. Awwwe, best threeway ever!"

You play Tim Searight in Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G – what was it like working on this project and what made it different than previous ones you’ve done?

BRIAN: "I’ve never worked on a project that had that long of a title, so that was new. I mean it literally takes up half my resume. So many things were cool and different working on this project. Anthony Hemingway (Director/Producer) is just so talented. I’ve known him for years, so getting to work on this with him truly is a dream. And the other actors that worked on Unsolved are ridiculously good! When you boil it down, this story is iconic and riveting. Kyle Long wrote an amazing show based on LAPD detective Greg Kading’s (Executive Producer) book Murder Rap. If you are not watching, you’re a real knucklehead. That’s right, a head made of just knuckles."

Is there a project that you’ve done that has really stuck with you in the back of your mind, even when you continue working on other things?

BRIAN: "I’ve has some pretty great experiences on sets with some pretty great people. One thing I’ll never forget is when I was going to the bathroom with a microphone pack around my waist. It fell into the toilet.  That has always stuck with me. Take the mic pack off before you go to the bathroom."

You recently finished filming the indie dark comedy, The Oath, alongside Barinholtz and Tiffany Haddish. Can you tell us a little about the movie and your role?

BRIAN: "The movie is going to be awesome. It’s a satirical thriller that takes place during the Thanksgiving holiday. I play Avery, a friend of Ike Barinholtz’s character Chris."

What was it like working with the cast for this project?

BRIAN: "It was fine. Ike and Tiffany and the rest of the of the cast might look funny in TV and movies, but wow, what a bunch of stiffs in real life. Zero humor. Zero fun. Just kidding! They are hilarious and awesome! Ike wrote, directed, and acted in the film. I mean seriously Ike, when do you sleep? Go home. Catch up on some nap time man!"

Is there anything else we can expect from you in the near future?

BRIAN: "I am going to go on a worldwide tour talking about why the “egg” came before the “chicken”. I have zero scientific knowledge in chemistry or biology, but I have passion. And isn’t that all that matters?"

Who or what inspired you to get into acting?

GEOVANNI: "My first acting class came in the way of an attempt to overcome stage fright. That first class captivated me enough to pursue acting as a career instead of the intended legal studies."

What was your first acting job? How would you describe the overall experience from it?

GEOVANNI: "Working on my first student film, I felt a sense of belonging. And it was as if this was what I was meant to do."

You currently star in Tyler Perry’s series “The Haves and the Have Nots” – what’s it like working on the show?

GEOVANNI: "It was a test of experience and intuition. I kid you not, the speed at which Tyler films, as an actor, we don’t have time to process information. The level of preparation required is similar to being on stage except we don’t have the 3 month preparation. The amount of dialogue to prepare and deliver, is a true test of skills."

You play Broderick on the show – do you personally feel that you relate to him in any way? If so, how?

GEOVANNI: "There are elements we can all relate to every character. Broderick is after the American dream but his methods may seem off kilter."

Of all the roles you have portrayed, which would you say was your favorite and why?

GEOVANNI: "They’ve all taught me something. Mall Cop 2 gave me an opportunity to experience doing my own stunts with cable work and free fall. It also was the first time my career was solidified in the minds of family and friends since the movie hit theaters internationally."

Do you find that you have a particular genre of film that you favor?

GEOVANNI: "I don’t have a particular genre I favor as I have a large range and enjoy being outside my comfort zone."

Is there a certain type of role that you haven’t gotten to portray yet that you would love to in the future?

GEOVANNI: "Yup, one with so much depth that gets me a nomination would be GREAT!"

Are there any other projects that we can expect from you in the near future?

GEOVANNI: "Actor and director projects come up very fast and the best way to stay informed is through my IMDB page. I’m also involved in the Special Olympics and to follow my journey in that, my Instagram is best: Gopradi"

LEE DOUD: INTERVIEW

INTRO BY ALEXIS ROGERS

INTERVIEW BY CAMI LIBERTY

When Lee Doud was 13, he decided to pursue acting by joining a conservatory program in the summer. Growing up, Doud admired actors such as Jackie Chen, Jet Li, and any other actor who played the role of James Bond. For the next five summers, Doud studied at the same conservatory to continue improving his skills. He attended UCLA for their theater program, and later studied Shakespeare at the British American Dramatic Academy in Oxford, England. Now, Doud can be found in a variety of shows and films, including “Last Man Standing,” “House of Lies,” and “I’m Fine.” “I’m Fine” follows two friends, Nate and Jeff. Nate is attempting to move past his ex-boyfriend while Jeff (Lee Doud) finds himself sharing his true feelings about Nate. This series is currently in its second season and can be found on Dekkoo, an app with content for the LGBTQ community.

When did you first realize that you wanted to be an actor?

LEE: "I knew I wanted to act from a young age. I remember the feeling of being on-stage was electric. I did a lot of theater growing up. I also loved watching movies. I would spend my summers doing a youth theater program at a local repertory theater. During the school year, I would work backstage as a stagehand just to be around other performers and artists. I’m so lucky that my parents were so supportive of this passion. I knew film and television was my ultimate goal, so I auditioned for a few top acting schools and that’s how I landed a spot at UCLA and got to fulfill my dream of living in Los Angeles."

What was your first acting role?

LEE: "I remember playing Woodstock in 'Snoopy' in the fourth grade. I had no lines and I had to wear bright yellow overalls with a bald cap my mom had glued yellow feathers to. It was magical. The next year, I got to play Chief Sitting Bull in 'Annie Get Your Gun', which felt like a real upgrade for me. And it’s really only gone up from there."

You currently star as Jeff in the web series “I’m Fine” – can you tell us a little about the show and your character?

LEE: “'I’m Fine' just released its second season on Dekkoo, a streaming service for LGBTQ content. The first season started with the lead character, Nate, dealing with a break-up. I play Jeff, Nate’s best friend and confidante. Jeff and Nate have a bit of a tumultuous relationship, which also includes some unrequited feelings. At the end of season one, you see Jeff and Nate at odds, which is our jumping off point for season two. Jeff is pretty honest and opinionated and certainly isn’t afraid to let you hear it. I think that’s the thing I like most about him. He’s definitely a #nofilter guy."

What do you love most about working on the show?

LEE: "This cast. We all get along really, really well and sometimes we forget that we’re at work. We really do have a great time on set. I also really love the honesty behind the stories that we’re telling. It’s all grounded in so much truth. The millennial struggle to find an identity in a world filled with social media and dating app’s is very real and so often, we’re expected to put this face out that says “I’m fine” when there’s a lot more going on beneath the surface."

When you aren’t acting, what do you like to do in your free time?

LEE: "I'm usually scouring the internet for new recipes. I love to cook and bake and I experiment in my kitchen quite a bit. I admit, it doesn’t always turn out well, but I haven’t made myself or anyone else sick (yet)! Food is love for me. Whenever my friends come over, they can usually expect to be fed. I love hosting gatherings at my place because it gives me an excuse to throw chicken wings into the slow cooker or mash up some avocados for guacamole. If you ever see over-ripe bananas sitting on my counter, you can bet that I’m already planning to bake a banana loaf."

Recently you wrote a piece for The Advocate titled “The Gay Community’s Fear and Loathing of Asian Men Must End” – what initially made you want to write this piece?

LEE: "When we set out to start season 2, creator Brandon Kirby and I had a few drinks one night and I told him there were some things I wanted to explore with Jeff, some personal experiences I have had in the dating world. There is a scene in the season where Jeff is set up on a blind date with a guy who’s a bit brash and insensitive. When the season was released, I was approached by The Advocate to write a piece detailing some of the other things I had experienced as an Asian-American male within the LGBTQ community. This was something I had become passionate about and emboldened by and I felt it was my duty as an artist to share my story to help empower those who felt like they had been marginalized."

Why do you think it’s important to speak out about these issues?

LEE: "In all honesty, I don’t think we’re as socially progressive as we like to think we are in this day and age. Sure, we’re no longer forcing people to use separate entrances or drink from separate water fountains, but I do believe that the way minorities and people of color are portrayed in mainstream media has a direct affect to the way society thinks about them. We are in the process of kicking down doors and demanding to be seen and heard, but there’s still a ways to go. I just want to encourage people to be open to having discussions about these things. I do believe that if you don’t speak up and speak out, that you’ll never be heard. A lot of prejudice and marginalization stems from naiveté and unawareness. After writing this piece, a lot of people reached out to simply thank me for opening their eyes to something they never even knew was happening."

We can next see you in the short film “Ira”, which you also produced. What was it like working on this project?

LEE: "This project was an honor to work on and I look forward to sharing it when it’s done. It deals with something else which I think is very important and that’s mental health. Many people suffer silently and more often than not, we don’t realize that their families and loved ones are suffering, as well. This project is a very tragic true story that I hope will enlighten many and spark an important conversation."

Are there any other projects coming up in the future that you can tell us about?

LEE: "I’ve been writing a lot! I’ve had some projects and ideas in the works for some time now and am trying to hone my skills as a storyteller in order to get them out of my head and onto paper. I’m working on adapting a novel that my aunt wrote as well as working on a horror/thriller script with a friend. I’m really inspired and excited right now and I can’t wait to give everyone the updates on these projects in the near future!"

Filipino actress Sari Arambulo is living the best of both worlds. She's currently enrolled at the University of Southern California to earn her communications major, but she's also building up her impressive acting resume. She can be seen on Seth Meyers and Lorne Michael's new show "A.P. Bio" on NBC as the character Grace. She's also guest starred on shows "Girl Meets World", "The Middle", and "Modern Family."  We sat down for an interview with Sari to find out more about her acting career and what she wants to do in the future.

When did you first get your start in acting and who/what inspired you to do so?

SARI: "I got my start in dance classes and musical theatre at my school. From there, I took voice lessons, participated in hip-hop competitions, and began taking acting classes - that’s how I got my start. My first time on set for a commercial was magical; that’s how I fell in love with acting and really solidified my desire to become an actress."

You currently star as Grace in Seth Meyers and Lorne Michael’s new show "A.P. Bio". Can you tell us a little about the show?

SARI: "Yes! It’s about a philosophy scholar named Jack Griffin who doesn’t get his dream job - and ends up moving back to Toledo, Ohio to work as an AP Biology professor at a high school. He realizes that his AP students are quite smart and begins using them as his minions to get revenge on people from his past life."

What’s it like working on the set and with the cast?

SARI: "SO much fun! Every day was a joy. I don’t think I ever laughed so much on a set before. I’m incredibly blessed to have worked with such a talented cast that all got along so well."

How do you relate to your character Grace on the show?

SARI: "As someone who is always welcoming, I relate to Grace’s sweet and kind nature. As you’ll see though, she seems to find herself in hilariously awkward situations, and that’s been fun to play into as well."

Is there a type of role that you haven’t gotten to play yet that you would love to in the future?

SARI: "I would love to be a part of an action film playing a bad ass character who gets herself into all sorts of trouble."

Of the roles you have played, which would you say has challenged you the most and why?

SARI: "The one that was the most challenging was playing a credit card theft operator investigated by the police in a TNT drama series. As someone who typically acts in comedy, it was quite a change in pace that I needed to get accustomed to. I loved it."

If you could work with anybody on a TV show or movie, who would it be?

SARI: "I would love to work with Reese Witherspoon. I admire what she stands for and am a fan of her production company. My drama teacher always told me that we had similar personalities, so it would be great fun for me to work with this talented, empowered woman (and see if we are in fact similar!)"

Is there anything else we can expect to see you in in the near future?

SARI: "I just shot an Ebay commercial and am working on producing / writing my own short film!"

EDDIE LEAVY: INTERVIEW

INTRO BY SERA SNYDER

INTERVIEW BY CAMI LIBERTY

NBC’s latest comedy series, “A.P. Bio” features Eddie Leavy as Anthony Lewis, a bright, young student in Jack’s bio class (played by Glenn Howerton). The show also features Patton Oswalt with Seth Meyers and Lorne Michaels as executive producers. In addition to playing Anthony Lewis, Leavy has also appeared on shows such as The Neighbors, Tosh.0, Bella and the Bulldogs, and Those Who Can’t. He brings a lively, comedic energy to any situation which can be proven through the interview below!

When did you first get involved with acting?

"I started performing when I was in 3rd grade. My parents forced me to do this theater camp over the summer in my hometown of Shelton, CT. I didn't really want to do the camp because it was only cool to play sports and be athletic. However, as soon as I started singing and dancing and acting on stage, there was no going back."

You currently star as Anthony Lewis in the new show ‘A.P. Bio’ – can you tell us a little about the show and your character?

"A.P. Bio is about a disgraced Harvard philosophy professor, Jack Griffin, who ends up teaching an A.P. biology class in his hometown of Toledo, Ohio. Jack has no interest in teaching the students anything to do with biology, and instead uses the students to carry out "revenge missions" on people whom he dislikes. With this, chaos ensues. My character Anthony is a student in Jack's classroom, and is not happy that Jack is messing with his education."

What’s your favorite part about working on the set of the show?

"Being on set was a dream come true! I loved being able to spend everyday with the most amazing cast and crew - it honestly didn't feel like work. I definitely made some life long friendships, and learned so much while filming the show."

Out of all the roles you have portrayed, which would you say has been your favorite and why?

"Anthony has been my favorite! There are a lot of similarities between Anthony and myself, and it gave me a great level of comfortably on set."

We read that you also co-directed and starred in the short titled ‘#ToothFairies’ – can you tell us a little about this project?

"Yes! #ToothFairies is this amazing web series created by my incredible friend Jordan Van Clief. She came up with this amazing universe in which we get to see the behind the scenes drama of the tooth fairies, and see how hard they have to fight to get the respect they deserve. It's so amazing to collaborate with your friends, and we had such a blast filming it. Our third season will be premiering next month!"

Did you find it challenging to direct and act in the same project?

"It was hard! You really have to wear two different hats - first with the big picture of the episode at hand, but also worrying about your own character's material.  But Jordan was such a great leader, so it was very easy to talk about her vision for the show. I felt good about it."

Is directing something you would like to do more of in the future?

"Yes, I really enjoyed it. I have a little more experience directing for the stage, but I would like to also learn more about directing for film. I would also love to create my own show one day. Seeing Mike O'Brien, the creator of A.P. Bio, in action was very inspiring."

When you aren’t acting what can we find you doing?

"I'm usually just galavanting around LA! I value my friends here so much, so I love to spend any free time with them. I love going to concerts, checking out new brunch spots, and watching movies."

Are there any goals as an actor that you hope to achieve in the future?

"Ah, there are so many! I really want to do it all - film, TV, theater, and music. I would really love to do a musical project for film and TV - I love shows like Empire and Glee that feature a ton of music in their storytelling, and would love to be a part of something similar in the future!"

OSCAR CAMACHO: INTERVIEW

INTRO BY ALEXIS ROGERS

INTERVIEW BY CAMI LIBERTY

Whether he is on stage or on screen, one of Oscar Camacho’s main goals in acting is to make his family and friends proud. This star can be found playing Diego, the villain of Freeform’s sci-fi series “Beyond”. He is also well known for his roles in “Zoot Suit” and “Wicked City”. Camacho’s parents immigrated to the United States from Colombia, and would later raise Oscar in Miami. Camacho graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre. He went on to receive his MFA in acting at Cal Arts. Camacho uses his love and passion for acting to help out with the Cal Arts’ Community Art Partnership. This program was designed to provide after-school and school-based programs for kids to explore the arts at no cost. Camacho is continuously motivated by other Latino actors.

When was the moment that you first realized that you wanted to be an actor?

OSCAR: "In middle school, I had a family friend who had recently seen me in a commercial. Up until then I had always wanted to be a producer for radio but when I mentioned that to him he just laughed. He essentially told me to aim higher and consider acting as a profession. I don’t know why but that struck a nerve with me. Maybe it was validation from someone other than my family or maybe I was just young, but that was the day I decided I was all in on acting."

Do you feel that the way you grew up influenced your decision on becoming an actor?

OSCAR: "My mother was always very supportive in my endeavor in the arts. She herself was a painter who used to screen print T-Shirts to sell them on the street.  She always said that the only reason she came to this country was so that I would be able to chase my dreams. I don’t know if I’d be here if it weren’t for that support."

You currently star as Diego in Freeform’s ‘Beyond’ – what’s it like working on the set?

OSCAR: "We really are a giant family. During downtime on set you could definitely find some of us in the cast playing cards or video games and we are constantly cracking jokes. A lot of that comes from the fact that we genuinely enjoy each other’s company outside of set."

Diego is a villain on the show – do you find it challenging to play a villain?

OSCAR: "Diego really doesn’t process human emotion so much as he tries to manipulate them in his victims. He’s always needling, poking and prying to get what he wants out of you. He’s not too concerned with what you might be able do to him. So being able to consistently stay in that world and mindset requires a certain level of focus. Being able to maintain that throughout every take and stunt was a challenge that I looked forward to everyday."

What types of roles do you find you have the most fun portraying?

OSCAR: "Honestly, I love these dark roles. The intensity and depths that are open to you as an actor are enticing. It’s not every day that you get to explore the darkness of humanity and the different colors that may be there. I enjoy trying to find the humanity of someone like Diego, even if I’m the only one that’s able to see it."

When you aren’t acting, what can we find you doing?

OSCAR: "I’m pretty low key most of the time. I enjoy playing soccer and working out at the gym. That helps me feel better since I consume absurd amounts of Mexican and Colombian food. Other than that, you could probably catch me at a bar with friends passing around a bottle of Mezcal."

Are there any goals that you hope to achieve as an actor in the future?

OSCAR: "I hope one day I’m blessed enough to create my own production company and be able to tell my stories."

Currently starring as Sal on the hit Nickelodeon series “Hunter Street” is Daan Creyghton, a 15-year-old actor from Amsterdam who is quickly building a positive name for himself. Check out the interview below to learn more about the series, his interests, and what’s next for him!

When did you first get involved with acting?

"When I was 8 years old—not really acting, although being in a commercial is considered acting, I guess. I did some commercials in the Netherlands. That was my first experience. I was short for my age—that’s why I played a little boy who was 6 years old in my first commercial."

You currently star in Nickelodeon’s "Hunter Street", where you play Sal. Can you tell us a little about the show?

“Hunter Street is a family show about 5 foster children. In season 1, after the 5th child is added to the family the (foster) parents disappear and the children try to find out what happened to their (foster) parents. They go on many adventures while looking for them, which leads to many comedic situations and mystery. In the second season, the foster parents are back and two more siblings are added. Erik (father) is accused of a crime and the kids are trying to find out what is going on and want to clear his name. This season is even more mysterious and more comedic.

In what ways do you relate to your character Sal?

"I am the opposite of Sal, but there is one thing we have in common – family is really important to us. We both love to spend a lot of time with our family and we both always have their back."

Do you have any favorite memories from working on the set?

"There are a lot of great memories. It is a fun group to work with. We are all really close, and have a close bond together. We prank each other a lot, dance and sing together, and play games in the game room. We film at a lot of amazing locations in the Netherlands, like musea. I think filming in the castle was really cool, especially one of the last scenes. I can’t tell you too much about it but it will be hilarious."

When you aren’t acting, what do you like to do in your spare time?

"I love to play basketball, watch television, play games, chill with my friends, go to the movies, find cool sneakers, and look at new cars with my father."

What are some goals that you hope to achieve in the future?

"Acting-wise, I really hope to land a role in a blockbuster movie. I love playing a techie person, but a role like a cool guy or bad boy would also be very interesting to play."

MICHELLE DEFRAITES: INTERVIEW

Currently starring as “Madison Kelly” on the HIT TV Series The Quad is Michelle DeFraites, a young actress who has the drive and ambition to call the studio her home since she was just 12 years old. Keep on reading this interview to learn about what’s to come and what it’s like to be involved in this top-notch industry!

When did you first realize that acting was what you wanted to do?

MICHELLE: "I have been doing community theater with my family since I was very young but I remember realizing at about 12 or 13 that acting could be a real job.  I was watching a show with my dad and I just remember saying 'I wanna do this!'  Literally within the month we were trying to figure out how to go to LA to give it a shot."

Do you remember anything from your first audition? How did it go?

MICHELLE: "I remember my first big audition was for a pilot on Disney Channel and it was 9 pages and I was terrified!  I actually did a good job and that proved to me that I was cut out for this career."

You currently star as Madison Kelly in BET’s The Quad. The show just returned at the end of January for its second season – what can you tell us about this season?

MICHELLE: "This season is a season of growth for my character in particular.  She is definitely taking a few more risks personally and in her school career.  There is a large activism storyline, inspired by what’s going on in the world around us, this season that is really great and I’m honored that Madison was allowed to be a part of it."

Do you find that you relate to Madison in any way? If so, how?

MICHELLE: "I feel like her development throughout the two seasons has mirrored by life while playing her. I love that she was a little more reserved first season because that’s exactly how I felt during filming.  This season she is spreading her wings and I feel that has inspired and allowed me to do the same as well!"

Of all the projects you’ve done, which would you say has had the biggest impact on you?

MICHELLE: "My role on House was a big turning point in my career.  It was the first time I had the opportunity to pay a dramatic role and I wasn’t convinced I could pull it off because all I had done up until that point was Disney.  After experiencing that set and being proud of my work, that was the moment I fell in love with drama and was confident enough to try to tackle more roles like that."

Do you have a certain process that you do to get into character?

MICHELLE: "When I first get a script and a new character my favorite thing to do is to question everything.  I feel like it helps me get into the head of the character so that when I play them for a long time I know them inside and out and then it becomes second nature.  I’ll ask 'Why did she say that' or 'Why did she make that decision or choice'.  There’s a reason for everything that someone does or says and finding out why is so important for character development."

You also will be starring in the upcoming film Crazy For The Boys. Can you tell us a little about this?

MICHELLE: "Crazy For The Boys is a super fun movie musical that tackles the bullying issue that is rampant in schools today.   I love that we can tackle such an important subject while still making a great movie with catchy songs that will be stuck in your head forever!  I literally had the best time shooting this and made some incredible lifelong friends and I thin that shows on screen."

Is there anything else we can expect from you in the future?

MICHELLE: "I have another film called All The Creatures Were Stirring, which is a thriller that takes place around Christmas.  This was another first for me because I’ve never worked on a scary movie before, but it was so fun and I can’t wait for every to see it!"

MARY NEELY: INTERVIEW

INTRO BY TAMARA CHAPMAN

INTERVIEW BY CAMI LIBERTY

UCLA alumni Mary Neely is successfully easing her way into the film industry. From just the age of 8 she has been dedicating endless time and effort into paving the way for her career. She even recently just aired her trailer for a short film at SXSW! In this interview we learn more about her true passions for filmmaking, writing, and acting.

How old were you when you first got interested in film?

"I always loved watching movies growing up. Both my parents have very different approaches to being cinephiles: my mom loves going to opening night showings, being surrounded by a crowd, that communal event aspect of movie going whereas my dad loves watching the same classic films over and over again on the couch (he also knows the most specific facts on the silent era). Yet I didn’t really get interested in film by myself until I was in my second year of college. I took a Danish film history course and that changed everything."

When did you first realize that you wanted to be an actress, writer, and filmmaker?

"I’ve wanted to be an actress since I was 8 or 9 but I only wanted to do plays. I never imagined myself doing film. I went to theater camps throughout middle school and high school, hoping to move to New York one day. After I graduated from UCLA (where I studied acting) I saw writing and filmmaking purely as vessels to help me get more acting work. Even after I made a short film and a web series I had a hard time calling myself a writer or filmmaker. But when everyone else started calling me those things and I would go to meetings as a filmmaker it started to set in."

What was the first movie you ever saw? Has anything from this production stuck with you over the years in your own work?

"I honestly don’t remember the first movie I ever saw. The first movie that had a really intense impact on me was 'Simon Birch.' I was in 2nd grade and went to see it with my friend and her mom and had to leave the theater to bawl in the lobby. Realizing that you can have that visceral of an experience from watching a film has definitely stuck with me.

When I was 6 or 7 my dad and I went to New York and he took me to see 'The Lion King' pretty close to when it had just opened on Broadway. That was the first play I ever saw and it totally changed my life. The theatrics involved in that play are so beautiful and totally cinematic, which I definitely have drawn inspiration from."

As a female in a male dominated industry, where do you find the struggle comes in the most? Do you ever come across anybody who refuses to take you seriously?

"Ha yes it has been very common that people don’t take me seriously. It’s even more common that people don’t assume I have value or even care to ask what I do! My biggest fear is being perceived as a card board cut out woman or girlfriend, just standing there without meaning. This also breeds paranoia and I’ve found it very hard to distinguish between when that’s actually happening versus when I’m meeting someone who has the penchant to be flighty or distracted. Of course, there have been the clear-cut times like when a producer asked if it’s hard for me to get a meeting because I have boobs."

This year your short film ‘Pink Trailer’ was premiered at SXSW. How did you feel when you first found out it would be premiered there?

"Oh I was so incredibly happy. I had been telling people for months, 'Man, I really hope ‘Pink Trailer’ gets into South by. I just feel like it really belongs there.' It’s so rare to want something so bad and then for it to actually happen. It felt like such a gift and very validating. When the writers texted me the news I ran around my apartment pumping my fist in the air yelling, 'BITCH' over and over. Maybe not the most appropriate response but that was my natural reaction."

What project of yours would you say you’re most proud of?

"My web series 'WACKO SMACKO.' It’s an 8 episode ode to a very specific time in my life and I’ve never worked harder on anything. I wrote, directed, produced, edited, and star in every episode. It’s the length of a feature and I did it on the smallest budget. I really poured my heart and soul into it and it’s gotten me so much—representation, clout, meetings, friends. Even though I went broke in the process it was totally worth it."

What are some goals that you hope to achieve in the future?

"I want to make a feature that premieres at a really good festival. I want to act in projects that are helmed by people with amazing artistic visions. I want to make a TV show. I want to continue to grow with my partner and I want a really good couch."

Is there anything else we can expect from you soon?

"Hopefully someone at SXSW will want to help me make my feature and/or TV show. I also just made my first music video and that was really cool so going to do more of that as well. You’ve probably seen me in commercials and I have a few other fun acting projects that are coming out but honestly I’m going to post some really riveting content on Instagram ;)"

SARAH MINNICH: INTERVIEW

INTRO BY MADDEN LEVIN

INTERVIEW BY CAMI LIBERTY

Sarah Minnich, a true actress with a plan, spoke to us about all things her career and person life throughout this exclusive interview! Moving away from the saturated LA movie scene, Minnich has a certain outlook on the industry that is so unique, we just had to find out more! To learn more about this lovely lady and her life, be sure to check her out on all social media platforms to keep updated!

When did acting become something you wanted to seriously pursue?

"Although I technically booked my first role back in 2005, I don’t believe that I thought I could actually pursue acting until sometime after 2011. My real career all started with a small role on AMC’s ‘Breaking Bad’. It was a short while after working on the hit show that I began to seriously consider my options as a regional actress. Sometimes, I tell people that the reason that I moved to New Mexico was because the CA market was saturated for my type. Technically, that’s true, but I didn’t actually come out here with the plan to pursue my acting career in a less saturated market, at first. Eventually, that absolutely became the reason NM seemed like the better region to build my resume. A couple years after booking BrBa, things started to take off for me in a way that suggested that this was something that I should devote all of my resources to. This transition in thinking led me to sign with publicist Nilda Carrazana of MLC PR (now Status PR) and to more seriously market myself as a career actress. The rest is history!"

Do you think the way you grew up influenced your decision to be an actress in any way?

"Absolutely! My father was a performer in his 20’s, my mother was always very flamboyant and outgoing, and I was constantly exposed to large groups of people who gave me a platform for creativity and self-expression. As a child, I was encouraged to play outside, to play dress-up, to sing when I felt like it, and to be creative as often as possible. All of this together led me to a desire to perform, and eventually gave me the confidence to pursue a career in performance."

You currently star as Angela Duke on the Paramount Network limited series Waco. Can you tell us a little about the show and your character?

"The ‘Waco’ series on Paramount Network recreates the events that surrounded the 1993 Waco, TX incident. Although not claiming to be completely historically or legally precise (with many names changed to protect the original individuals involved), the series attempts to illustrate events from the perspective of both sides of the ATF/Branch Davidians conflict. Fans should expect an action-packed and sometimes touching retelling of the Waco incident. I play Angela Duke, a cunning press secretary for the ATF who, in the show, plays a role in the drama that takes place before the FBI makes it to the Koresh compound. Although I will save the detail for the show, I will say that my character makes some pretty costly media-related mistakes that affect the outcome of the initial ATF raid. These mistakes are paid for by many lives, making Duke an infamous character in the show’s storyline."

Do you have any favorite memories from working on the set?

"I really enjoyed working with John Leguizamo. I have always liked his style as an actor, but he was even more fun to watch at work. During one scene in the ATF planning office, our characters have a bit of a dispute and Leguizamo ends up questioning my character as to who she is and what she is doing there. After 2 or 3 takes of getting what we needed, we did a take ‘to have fun’ and at the end of our scene Leguizamo threw out a completely unexpected accusation at my character and surprised the hell out of me. I love this kind of thing because it forces you to really be in the mind of your character at all times; if you answer out of character, you’ve lost the opportunity to have some potentially fabulous improvised interaction. Sometimes, as we’ve seen from some of the biggest actors, the very best content isn’t planned or scripted."

Do you have a certain method you use when you get into character?

"I try to live in the character while I’m working. I once had a crew member come up to me after witnessing a complete personality shift and say 'wow, that explains a lot about who I met when we were working on ‘Icebox’… you were literally that character on and off of camera; now you’re a different character all together'. It’s not that I’m playing people, it’s rather that I am trying to consolidate my energy to one persona while working on a project so as not to exhaust my creative instrument and/or accidentally come out of character in the process of rolling camera and cutting camera."

Of all the roles you have portrayed, which would you say you had the most fun doing?

"One of my favorite characters to play was Vera on the WGN series ‘Manhattan’. The show portrayed the NM based Manhattan Project that took place during WWII, and I played one of the Women’s Army Corps Officers who was on base during operations. I loved doing the show for many reasons: it was a period piece, it was based on historic events, and the set was so realistic and detailed, that it was easy to forget you were even on a film set."

We learned that you have a strong passion for supporting human rights, animal rights, healthy body image, addiction recovery and more. Can you tell us a little about why you strongly support these causes?

"I grew up in a family with very strong liberal opinions. Specifically, my father taught me to respect nature above all and to value all life as highly as my own. This, along with struggles in my own personal journey, has left me with a feeling of duty to the planet, the living things on the planet, and individuals like myself who have overcome various obstacles in their journeys."

Are there any projects coming up in the future that you can tell us about?

"I have quite a few things in the works right now. One project that I am looking forward to seeing is 'The Wave' with Justin Long. In this feature film, I play Long’s embittered wife, on a rampage after he pisses my character off once again in a long line of slights. I believe this film is scheduled to release sometime in mid-2018."

Currently starring on the hit FOX series “The Mick”, Thomas Barbusca is rapidly growing in the TV industry. With prior appearances on "Grey’s Anatomy" and "American Horror Story", his acting breakthrough is one that we may never forget. In this interview we get more insight and a look at Barbusca’s future endeavors!

When did you first get your start in acting?

"I got into acting following my sister around on auditions when I was around 4 years old. I did some modeling too."

What do you remember from your first audition?

"Yes it was for a Lysol commercial that I ended up booking."

You currently star as Chip Pemberton in FOX’s "The Mick". Can you tell us a little about the show and your role as Chip?

"'The Mick' is about a family that gets thrown a curve ball when their parents get arrested and sent to jail for tax fraud and their aunt mickey comes to take care of them. She's not your typical aunt. The kids are super entitled and spoiled. My character Chip Pemberton is probably the most entitled of them all. He thinks money can buy everything and usually makes a fool of himself in every episode."

Which episode of "The Mick" would you say you had the most fun filming?

"I seriously have fun filming every episode. If I had to pick one this season I would say The Matriarch was fun because i got to drive a supped up golf cart. That was great. Taking a bubble bath having my feet scrubbed and being fed protein shakes was funny too."

Of all the roles you have portrayed, which would you say has been your favorite and why?

"Comedy wise, 'The Mick' for sure! I am grateful everyday to play this character. I've had so many great storylines playing chip. I get to work with Kaitlin Olson everyday which is like having the best acting teacher. She's a comedic genius. I barely can keep a straight face. Drama wise, I think 'Preacher' was a very different role for me serious and kinda dark, I enjoyed having a serious role."

When you aren’t acting, what do you like to do in your spare time?

"Spending time with my family and friends. Basketballs games, dinners hanging out at the flea market."

We can soon see you in the upcoming independent film "Search", as well as YouTube Red’s Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes on Television. What can you tell us about these projects?

"Ryan Hansen solves crime on television was a lot fun to film. I had the best time. I play the owner of a sneaker store that gets into some trouble with Joel McHale and Ryan Hansen. Search is an independent film. Director Aneesh Chaganty asked me to be a part of it and I immediately said yes. He's a genius. He was the director of the very first short film I did when I came to California. This movie will win many awards he's amazing it already has! The film is about a 16-year-old girl goes missing and her desperate father breaks into her laptop to look for clues to find her."

Are there any goals that you hope to achieve as an actor?

"I just hope to just keep doing what I'm doing and to get better everyday. I'm very grateful for all the great roles I've  done. I want to do a dramatic film to show I am not just a comedy actor. Maybe even a cool action film. For now I'm very happy with the way my career is going."

Born in Los Angeles with a Chinese and Japanese descent, actor Rich Ting is featured in Paramount Network’s “Waco,” which looks into the 1993 standoff between the FBI, ATF, and Branch Davidians. “Waco” premiered January 28, 2018, and in Fall 2018, Ting will be in the Cinemax drama series “Warrior;” this will be a series inspired by Bruce Lee, taking place in the late 1800’s San Francisco Chinatown. In addition, Ting will have his short drama “Prisoner of Mind” in 2018 film festivals. Ting has roles in a variety of films, whether in the United States or Asia. He also carries a 1st degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and modeled for various companies such as Chase Credit Card, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana, and Giorgio Armani.

What do you remember from your first audition and the experience from it?

RICH: "The only thing I remember from my first audition was how nervous and scared I was to read for the casting director.  Having prepped all of my lines well in advance, I suddenly became so anxious waiting in the lobby that I started blanking on all of my scenes.  Long story short, I honestly do not remember exactly what happened inside the casting room but definitely know I did not deliver the scene as I had prepared it at home.  I used this uncomfortable and frightening audition as a learning experience to prepare and train from for potential auditions in the future."

Do you think where you grew up and who you grew up with influenced your decision to be an actor in any way?

RICH: "Having been born and raised in Los Angeles, I definitely believe that the surrounding 'Hollywood' environment influenced me to want to pursue a career in acting.  I remember seeing huge billboards for films, TV shows, concerts, brand names as well as attending school with children of famous celebrities.  As a child, I often asked myself (1) why there was not a famous 'Asian American' leading man and (2) why were all Asian actors (like Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan) martials artists or characters that could fight and fly through the air.  Legends like Bruce Lee definitely inspired and motivated me to pursue my study of martial arts but I was always curious why there was never an Asian American 'dad,' 'boyfriend,' 'policeman,' 'firefighter,' 'lawyer,' or 'hero'.  All of my childhood friends had favorite actors that they could relate to ethnically and racially, however, I could never find that one Asian American leading man that represented my 'hero'.  As a result, the dream and pursuit of becoming not only an Asian American actor but a leading man in Hollywood began.  It has been an absolute dream come true for me to be working in Hollywood as an actor, and I continue to live the dream everyday I go to set and perform my craft in front of the cameras."

Tell us about the Paramount Network series “Waco”. Who do you play?

RICH: "I play 'Lon Horiuchi', an F.B.I. Hostage Rescue Team (H.R.T.) sniper and former U.S. Army officer.  He was the critical sniper that shot Vicki Weaver during the F.B.I. siege at Ruby Ridge in 1992.  (In 1997, Horiuchi was charged with manslaughter for the death of Vicki Weaver at Ruby Ridge, but the charges were later dropped).  He was involved in controversial deployments during the 1992 Ruby Ridge standoff and 1993 Waco siege.  As a result, the series opens with the events at Ruby Ridge and follows Horiuchi’s involvedment all the way to the siege of the Waco compound in 1993."

You will be starring in the Cinemax drama series "Warrior", which is inspired by the writings and work of Bruce Lee. What is it like working on the set and portraying your character?

RICH: "It has been such an honor to be not only cast for this amazing project but to also be playing the real character of martial arts legend and close friend of Bruce Lee, 'Bolo Yeung.' It has also been an absolute pleasure and privilege to be working with such a diverse group of extremely talented actors. Because we are on location in Cape Town, South Africa filming this incredible project, the entire cast typically hangs out and grabs lunch, dinner, coffee, etc. with each other quite frequently.  We have all gone on various excursions to the beach, wineries as well as participate in daily stunt training with our stunt team and coordinators.  Having actors from all over the world, including Canada, Hong Kong, China, Indonesia, United Kingdom, South Africa, and the U.S., has definitely impacted and influenced the positive vibe and excitement while filming due to the overall diversity, culture, and energy that each specific actor brings to set.

This project has impacted me in so many ways due to my childhood connection with Bruce Lee, as he was the sole reason for why I began studying martial arts at the age of 4-years old and continues to be one of my lifelong idols.  Having the opportunity to work with his daughter, Shannon Lee, as well as director/executive producer, Justin Lin, executive producer, Danielle Woodrow, and writer, Jonathan Tropper, words cannot express how honored I am to bring to life an idea, vision, and dream of the legendary martial artist and my childhood idol, Bruce Lee.  Ironically, throughout my life, I have often been referred to and called 'Bolo' or 'Chong Li' from my family, close friends, and numerous athletic teammates.  Known for his notorious characters in 'Enter the Dragon' and 'Blood Sport,' Bolo Yeung has been someone I have also idolized due to his muscular physique and overall strong character acting.  Being cast as 'Bolo' in 'Warrior' represents the biggest win of my career thus far as I am portraying the most iconic and hyper-masculine Asian character known throughout the world in a TV series written and created by the greatest martial artist of all time.  I would never have imagined I would be given such an opportunity as a 4-year old child watching both Bruce Lee and Bolo Yeung in 'Enter of the Dragon'."

Out of all the roles you have portrayed, which has been your favorite personally and which do you think you’ve learned the most from?

RICH: "Ever since I began my career as a professional actor, I have approached every project as if it were my last.  Whether I have been cast as a guest star, recurring, or lead, I have always been extremely proud and humbled to be chosen for that particular character and project.  I continue to study and learn from each individual project in perfecting my craft as an actor. Whether it is from set conditions to fellow actors to the various directions and notes from directors and producers, I always treat and approach each project as an opportunity to learn and grow as an artist in the industry. However, to date, I am most proud of my current TV series, 'Warrior', that I am filming in 2018.  Inspired by an idea from the late martial-arts star Bruce Lee, 'Warrior' is an action series set against the backdrop of the Tong Wars of San Francisco’s Chinatown in the second half of the 19th century. I am playing legendary character and close friend of Bruce Lee, 'Bolo', the universally feared fighter and top lieutenant of the Hop Wei Tong.

So far, 'Warrior' has not only been my most favorite project to work on but it has also has reinforced what my parents have also preached to me: 'always keep working at something and never stop'.  If I didn’t know what to do, then I should just keep doing what I was currently working on.  And that’s exactly what happened in my past.  In the summer of 2007, an offer at a law firm in downtown Los Angeles brought me back to L.A. where I coincidentally received my first job offer to work on a Warner Brothers’ feature in the summer of 2007.  My dream of being an actor in Hollywood had began and since, I continue to be motivated by the unknown factor of what will happen tomorrow, next week, next month, next year.  When I was 4-years old, I began to study martial arts because of my motivation and inspiration from Bruce Lee.  So many decades later, I am now continuing my childhood idol’s idea, dream, and vision he created prior to his unfortunate death.  Never would I have imagined that I would be starring in a project created by the greatest martial arts legend of all time while continuing the pursuit of my dream of being a Hollywood actor.  Bruce Lee was quoted saying, 'Running water never grows stale, so you got to just keep on flowing'.  Similar to what my parents preached and taught me when I was a child, I continue to stay motivated, committed to my craft, and to never stop 'flowing'."

You also recently shot "Prisoner of Mind", a short drama film that will be submitted to film festivals this year. Can you tell us a little about it?

RICH: "I play the character of 'Paul Nguyen', a graduate student at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., who works as a tour guide for people visiting the National Mall, including the Vietnam Memorial.  Unbeknownst to Paul, Vietnam War vet, 'Sgt. Matthew Medder', has been stalking and studying Paul and his family’s background.  Sgt. Medder, a Vietnam P.O.W. who was a prisoner in a North Vietnamese prison camp, discovers that Paul is the grandson of the North Vietnamese commander that held him captive. Suffering from severe post traumatic stress disorder (P.T.S.D.) as well as various other mental illnesses, Sgt. Medder strategizes and eventually seeks revenge on his former captor by kidnapping and torturing Paul.  The film focuses on the numerous illnesses as well as P.T.S.D. that our war veterans suffer from and experience upon returning home from war.  Throughout the intense dialogue and conversations between Paul and Sgt. Medder, it becomes evident that these war veterans continue to require additional medical care and attention throughout their recovery and assimilation back into mainstream society.  The film addresses the issues of revenge, hope, forgiveness as well as the impacts and influences of religion, including Christianity."

Is there anything else that we can expect in the near future?

RICH: "In 2017, I was cast as 'Keith Jenloe', the managing partner of an investment bank, on the CBS TV series, 'NCIS: Los Angeles'.  And I am very excited to say that I will be returning as a recurring character on 'NCIS: Los Angeles' in 2018. In addition, 'Warrior' is scheduled to premiere on HBO’s Cinemax channel in late 2018."

Emilia McCarthy is a Canadian actress, as well as a dancer and writer. At the young age of eight, McCarthy had the opportunity to act in the Golden Globe winning film Babel. She says that two of her biggest influences are Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams because they are both from her hometown of London, Ontario. Along with acting, McCarthy has also published a book with her father titled Baby’s Wish. Most recently she is starring in Disney Channel’s new original movie called Zombies. Read on to the interview below to find out more about Emilia McCarthy’s life and her starring role in Zombies!

When did you first get involved with acting? What do you remember from your first audition?

EMILIA: "I woke up one morning when I was seven and had some kind of epiphany that I had to be an actress. So I told my parents, who for some reason didn’t just take it as some phase I was having, and somehow got me an agent. My very first audition was for the film Babel and I booked it. I was off to Mexico to film for six weeks on the first month of my acting epiphany and I honestly fell in love with it!"

You star in Disney Channel’s new movie Zombies, which is set to premiere February 16th. What was it like filming the movie and playing your character Lacey?

EMILIA: "Filming Zombies was an incredible experience. From the dancing to the singing to the acting, I got to experience what it’s like to be in a musical! It’s lots of hard work but accompanied by the amazing and talented cast and crew, we had a blast and created an unforgettable experience!

Playing Lacey was so much fun. I love getting to play the extravagant mean girl role."

When filming Zombies, what was your favorite memory from set?

EMILIA: "My favorite memory from set is probably the bonding time I had with the cast. For a couple of weeks we were out in the woods shooting the football scenes and it literally felt like going to camp every day. We all ran out of data on our phone (lol) so we played card games and charades and it felt like being a little kid again."

When you aren’t acting, what do you like to do in your spare time?

EMILIA:  "My spare time consists of watching a lot of Netflix. I love to kick back with my friends and work out as well."

Is there a type of role that you haven’t gotten to play yet that you would love to in the future?

EMILIA: "I’d really love to play a kick butt girl, a Tomb Raider type vibe. I love the idea of being forced to get super fit for a role and look like a bad ass on screen. I’ve never fully done my own stunts before, so I think that would be something fun and exciting."

Is there anything else that we can expect from you in the near future?

EMILIA: "A pilot I shot that premiered in October might go to series. So look out for Dark Haven High if it does!"

LEILA JOLENE: INTERVIEW

INTRO BY MELISSA TUCKER

INTERVIEW BY CAMI LIBERTY

At the age of three, Leila Jolene attended The Nutcracker ballet in Pennsylvania. After she saw the production, she immediately decided that she wanted to become an actress. Whether it is being in front of the camera or performing on stage, the Pittsburgh native continues to amaze audiences and impress production studios with her talents. Leila plays the lead role in the Netflix series “Seven and Me” as the charming character Snow. This driven starlet takes her academics just as seriously as she takes acting. She has her sights set on attending UCLA and hopes to become a producer in the future. Now, Leila Jolene is making big moves and there are only great things ahead for this determined young star.

When did you first get involved with acting? What do you remember from your first audition?

"I started off with a Doritos commercial submission produced by Shaun O’Donnell, when I was three years old. And ever since then, I have always wanted to be on camera. I did a lot of local auditions and work for several years before venturing out to New York and LA. I remember my first audition was really simple. I had to say a few words, pick up a book, then sit down and smile. Throughout the years the audition process has changed compared to my first audition. Now it’s a little more complicated than that."

You currently star in the children’s program Seven And Me. In the show you play Snow, who is the modern-day descendant of Snow White. Can you tell us a little more about the show? What’s it like playing Snow?

"This show is the first hybrid animated TV series that brilliantly incorporates a family sitcom with 3D animated characters. It features the Snow of today with the dwarfs and how they make her world magical! Snow’s life becomes an adventure and a fairy tale in itself, with modern day problems and modern-day solutions that help her overcome barriers and obstacles. But even with the dwarves’ mischief, Snow always finds a fun and creative way to set things straight. Her sweet and kind personality really shows how she cares about the entire world. And that's really what makes her so special. I love playing her because her personality is quite similar to mine, and it's so much fun to just be myself even while filming."

What do you love most about working on the set of the show?

"My favorite part of filming on this set is interacting with the dwarves. It's like I have been transported into another dimension and it's only me and the other people in the scene."

Of the episodes that you have filmed, which one did you have the most fun filming?

"Probably either the Marvelous Exchange or Back to Childhood are my top two favorites. While shooting Back to Childhood with my parents, it was the hardest thing in the world to not just burst out into laughter because of some of the things they did. Even the crew was trying so hard not to laugh!!! But the Marvelous Exchange was different from any episode I had ever done before, because my mom and I switch bodies, and the experience of being able to play both my mom and Snow was so much fun!!! I had to study a lot with her so I could understand how she plays Blanche. It was so exciting!!!"

When you aren’t acting, what do you like to do in your spare time?

"I have so many activities that I love to do in my spare time, such as dancing, singing and I really love horseback riding. I also enjoy drawing, reading and traveling."

If you could work on a TV show or movie with anybody, whether it be the cast or crew, who would it be and why?

"I have always wanted to be in a film with Julia Roberts. I think she is an amazing actress and I would love to be in a movie with her. I would also love to be in a movie directed by Steven Spielberg."

What are some goals that you hope to achieve in the future?

"I plan on going to ULCA to learn how to be a producer while continuing to act. I would really love to work on a project as a producer with Luc Chalifour as the director. That would really be fun!"

16-year-old, Washington D.C. native, Amarr M. Wooten has just landed himself a series regular role on the new Nickelodeon TV comedy, “Knight Squad.” Wooten has been acting since the young age of three and is not unfamiliar with the spotlight. His other feature roles have included recurring roles on ABC’s hit comedy “American Housewife” & Disney’s “Liv & Maddie,” as well as a lead role in Nickelodeon’s original movie “Splitting Adam.” "Knight Squad" is set to premiere its pilot episode in early 2018, so keep your eye out for Amarr M. Wooten and read below to find out more!

How did you get your start in acting?

"I was modeling at the age of two, and at the age of three my mom decided to transition me into acting."

What was your first ever audition like?

"I actually don’t remember my first audition since I was so young! However, I remember my first project being on 'Court TV,' a crime reenactment show!"

You star as Warwick in Nickelodeon’s new show Knight Squad. Can you tell us a little about the show and what we can expect from it?

"'Knight Squad' goes into depth with young knights in training! I play Warwick, 1/4 of the Phoenix Squad! I’d like to say Warwick is a charismatic, overly ambitious knight with a lot of weight on his shoulders because he is a third generation knight. You can expect ogres, sword fights, magical creatures, and a big secret from Warwick that you’ll have to tune in to find out."

How do you relate to your character Warwick on the show?

"It’s funny because the base character of Warwick is nothing like me! However, since I’m more of a cool, laid back person I try to add those elements to Warwick to make him feel more 'human' for me!"

Of all the roles you have portrayed, which would you say has been your favorite and why?

"Of all the roles I have portrayed I would say that my favorite would have to be Finch from 'Liv and Maddie' because he was so different than how I really am! As I watched him I was convinced I was looking at a completely different person!"

When you aren’t acting, what do you like to do in your spare time?

"When I’m not on sets I like to play sports and to have fun with my friends!"

Is there a certain type of role that you haven’t gotten to portray yet that you would love to in the future?

"I haven’t played a superhero role yet so hopefully I get to in the future!"

HAVANA GUPPY: INTERVIEW

INTERVIEW BY CAMI LIBERTY

18 year old Vancouver native Havana Guppy's acting career has had an impressive start. She stars in Hulu's hit drama series "Shut Eye," which follows around a scammer with a small chain of Los Angeles psychic storefronts and the crime families behind his business. In the show, Havana plays a rebellious teenager whom was forced into marriage at age 15 and wants to break free from Roma traditions and her complex gypsy mafia family. Aside from that, Havana has also had reoccurring roles in the Netflix series "Haters Back Off" and SYFY's "Aftermath," and her impressive resume continues to grow. Recently we interviewed Havana to learn more about her acting career and what's next for her!

When did you first realize that you wanted to be an actress?

HAVANA: "I can’t really remember not wanting to be an actor. I don’t know if I can really explain it, I just knew that’s what I wanted to do. When I was really little it was just so fun. I loved everything about it. It was probably around when I was seven or eight when I actually got really passionate about it. Not only did I think it was fun, but I really started to feel an emotional connection to characters and films. It became my life. I felt like this was what I was meant to do."

What was your first acting job? How would you describe the overall experience from it?

HAVANA: "My first acting job in television and film was a small part in a short film called 'Street Life,' directed by Philip Granger. I remember being so excited and nervous, and very overwhelmed. It was all good feelings. There was never a moment where I doubted if I wanted to do this anymore."

You play Drina Marks in Hulu’s hit drama series "Shut Eye." Do you personally think you relate to Drina in any way? If so, how?

HAVANA: "We’re both very serious, intense humans. We also don’t like being told what to do, just ask my mom. I also felt that Drina didn’t quite know where she belonged, which is something that was very familiar to me. It made it really easy to bring her to life."

The second season of "Shut Eye" premiered on last month. What would you say was the biggest difference between filming the first season and the second?

HAVANA: "Well for one, I was living alone in Los Angeles which was huge for me. Last year I was home in Vancouver, with my mom driving me to set and making sure I didn’t sleep through my alarm. This time it was all on me. Thankfully I did pretty well! Also, I had more days of work in season two so I felt more a part of the Shut Eye family, which was so wonderful."

Is there a type of role that you haven’t gotten to portray yet that you would love to in the future?

HAVANA: "I haven’t gotten to play a villain yet, and it’s something I’ve always wanted to do! I think it would be so much fun to play the bad guy."

Do you find that you have a particular genre of film that you favor?

HAVANA: "I definitely favor serious films, or dark comedies. Not only do I prefer to work in those genres of film, but I also enjoy watching them over any other genres."

Aside from "Shut Eye," is there anything else that we should look out for from you?

HAVANA: "At this moment I am keeping busy auditioning to find my next project!"

KAITLYN BERNARD: INTERVIEW

INTRO BY MELISSA TUCKER

INTERVIEW BY CAMI LIBERTY

As far as young actors in Hollywood go, Kaitlyn Bernard is capable of becoming one of cinema’s greatest starlets. Her skilled acting chops have captivated the eyes of esteemed casting directors and successful production companies since she was a little girl. In 2017, Bernard starred as Shannon Cotterie in the hit Netflix film 1922. The feature was based on the novella by Stephen King. This year, the actress will be co-starring alongside Zoey Deutch in the film Richard Says Goodbye. With more roles ahead, Kaitlyn Bernard is on her way to becoming a true A-list Hollywood actor.

How did you first get into acting?

KAITLYN: "My love for acting began in musical theatre when I was about three years old.  I loved performing live and actually still really enjoy live theatre. But when I was about seven I started auditioning for commercials, and smaller film and television roles, and started taking training specific to film and television. I booked a number of student films, then some smaller roles on TV shows, and more recently lead roles in feature films."

What was your first audition like?

KAITLYN: "My very first audition was actually for a Barbie commercial. I didn’t really know what to expect but I ended up booking the job."

You play Shannon Cotterie in Netflix’s adaptation of Stephen King’s novel 1922. What was it like working on the set?

KAITLYN: "Having the opportunity to be part of a Stephen King adaptation was incredible. I love horror movies but this one really caught my eye as it was also a psychological thriller. Netflix does an amazing job with their original projects and this one had an incredible cast and crew.  I loved the story line and being able to work with Thomas Jane, Molly Parker and Dylan Schmid, who all did incredible jobs portraying their characters, was a definite highlight.  I also loved that the story took place in 1922 so the costumes and sets were really interesting."

How did working on 1922 challenge you as an actress?

KAITLYN: "Without giving too much away, my character had an important role to play in that Henry’s love for her is what ultimately leads to tragedy. The biggest challenge was being able to showcase the connection between the two characters in a limited amount of time. Shannon is a lot like me, in that she worries and cares very deeply for people in her life and I tried to show that as much as possible.  We also had to have Nebraskan accents. I love working with accents, and so I enjoyed this challenge."

Of the roles you have played, which would you say is your favorite?

KAITLYN: "Of all my projects to date, I would have to say one of my favorite projects was “The Healer”, a feature film I starred in alongside Jonathon Price, Oliver Jackson-Cohen and Camilla Luddington.  I played a 14-year-old girl named Abigail who was living with incurable cancer. It's a magical story that was beautifully shot on the east coast of Canada. After wrapping the film, I was inspired to start my own foundation, Just Breathe, to support kids living with serious illness. To date, Just Breathe has raised close to $120,000 in support of the Canadian Cancer Society’s Camp Goodtimes. My decision to start the foundation was very much in line with what the film stands for as a whole. 'The Healer' has been released in eight countries with all of the proceeds going towards children living with serious illness. We expect a North American release in 2018."

If you could play any character in a film or TV show, who/what would it be and why?

KAITLYN: "I would love to play Bonnie from 'Bonnie and Clyde.' This was another reason why I was so drawn to the script of '1922.'  My character and Dylan’s character (Henry) go on the run and get into trouble, similar to Bonnie and Clyde.  Faye Dunaway did just an amazing job portraying Bonnie, and she is an actress I look up to."

Is there anything we can expect to see you act in in the near future?

KAITLYN: "You’ll be able to catch me in the upcoming feature called 'Richard Says Goodbye' and I’m currently filming another project that I’m really excited about. I can’t give too many details yet, but I play a very high-level gymnast so I’ve been busy training in the gym and preparing for the role."
