With over one million monthly listeners on his Spotify channel, Nick Wilson is a 25-year-old singer-songwriter hailing from Buckinghamshire. He recently released his new single “Safe” — a soulful track featuring melancholy lyrics over an electrifying beat.

Having some massively loved tracks like “Miles Apart,” “Think Twice,” “Not Falling Out of Love,” along with several other phenomenal tracks, his recent single “Safe” is one of the many tracks that has been successful in proving Wilson’s extreme vocal and lyrical potential.

Nick Wilson took out some of his time to talk to us about his recent track and give us insights about his musical journey.

When was the moment you decided to become a music artist?

Nick: “I’ve always been musical so I think I knew from a young age that I wanted to do something musical, but it wasn’t until I was around 15 years old that I figured it was something I could actually do. I started doing YouTube covers and writing music so I realized being an artist was a viable thing.”

What can you tell us about your recent release “Safe”?

N: “Safe is about the overthinking and over analyzing that causes us to make situations worse; we always tend to blame others or wallow in it instead of realizing that maybe we’re the ones to blame. I wrote it with The Nocturns in about four hours, we just fell in love with the chorus melody and the rest came so easily.”

If you could collaborate with one artist of your liking, who might it be and why?

N: “I think it would have to be John Mayer, because he’s just insanely talented [laughs]. I’d love to just smash out a groove with him, and his song writing is always the right level of interesting and mainstream. I love it.”

What are the things that you always keep in mind before creating your music?

N: “I write music best when it’s from an emotional place so I always like to be in the head space of how I might feel about something and why. You’ve got to be ready to dig deep into emotions if you’re writing about experiences.”

Who do you consider as a source of inspiration for your music?

N: “Lyrically I take a lot of inspiration from Noah Gundersen, he’s an incredible lyricist. Sonically, I love LANY and John Mayer and Phoebe Bridgers so that always finds its way into my sound.”

What is the kind of message that you want to convey through your music?

N: “I never really want a message to be at the forefront of my music, but I think if I can make people think about situations differently or let them into a world emotionally that they recognize then I’m happy.”
